Hi - It's me, James, your humble web guy at Purgatory.  This is where I will tell you about all kinds of fun things, cool pictures (I think...I take them)  and trivia...and sometimes I ramble.  If you see me out on the mountain, be sure to say hi and since I will probably have a camera with me, feel free to pose!

Usually what I put in here is also what I send to the news stations and to all my coworkers at Purgatory.  If you are one of those that would also like to receive these photos via email in the morning, give me a shout and I'll put you on the list (jbunten@durangomountain.com or 970.385.2115).  Keep in mind that the photos I send out are 1920 x 1080...perfect for screen savers (and news stations).

Opening Day at Purgatory

Under bluebird skies, the winter wonderland otherwise known as Purgatory started the season today with top-to-bottom skiing and riding serviced by our high-speed "six-pack" chairlift.  As is customary, riders on the first chair were photographed and enjoyed untracked powder on Purgatory's front side. I wanted to get an interview with someone, anyone, but as soon as the chairlift started moving, everyone was getting in line...which by the way, was only about 4 minutes max. We rarely make any mention of lift long lift lines, because we don't have any.

The Wrath of the Snow Gods at Purgatory!

Many people doing the snow dance has caused a great storm to unleash it's fury at Purgatory. As promised, here are some shots...I'll be posting these on our facebook page as well. We're all getting ready for our opening day on Friday the 26th!

I'll send more as the storm is currently encasing the mountains with dark clouds.  It's going to be a great season, I can feel it! Here's the official word on the storm so far: 24" at mid-mountain...this means we will be offering top to bottom skiing and riding serviced by our high-speed 6-pack chairlift on Friday!  That's about as cool as it gets! (can you tell I'm excited with all the exclamation points?) !
