Durango

Durango has been stamped a “hidden gem” by Ski America, and just about everyone who lives or visits here would agree. As a gateway to the majestic San Juan Mountains and a historical treasure, the scenic town of Durango is one of the last genuine Colorado towns.

Nestled into a bend in the vast and beautiful Animas River, Durango abuts the famed Four Corners Region, an area home to some of the richest history in the West and which brings together Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.

Downtown Durango is a National Registered Historic District; and Main Avenue looks much like it did 100 years ago, with highlights like the historic Strater Hotel, Diamond Belle Saloon and Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Train Station and Museum. Restaurants, galleries, boutiques and museums dot the walkable downtown area where visitors and locals spend their time. The laid-back, friendly Durango culture and the people themselves will make anyone feel welcome and want to stay.
